What it is supposed to do:

Delay aging
Combat disease (cancer)
Prolong sexual virility
Treat insomnia
Minimize jet lag
 

How it is supposed to work:

Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone that increases neurotransmitters in the brain.  It has been shown to affect circadian rhythm

Toxic effects:

Few adverse effects:

Headache
Depression (transient). May exacerbate existing depression
May make diabetes control worse
May cause seizures

Does it work?

No good studies have proven that Melatonin works.

A few studies show it is useful as a sleep aid.
