What it's supposed to do:

Increase muscle mass and strength.

How it's supposed to work:

Androstenedione is an anabolic steroid. The body makes its own androstenedione and turns it into testosterone by the liver.  Testosterone has a role in increasing muscle mass and strength.  Some people have used anabolic steroids to try to increase their muscle mass and strength.

Does it work?

Don’t know.  One study showed it didn’t, and another showed  a short increase in testosterone, but no improvement in athletic importance. 

But it doesn’t matter because they’re not safe!!!

Is it safe?

NO! 

Anabolic steroids can cause heart disease, liver tumors, liver cancer, small testicles, large breasts in men, short stature, aggression, masculinization in women.

Banned by the NFL, NCAA, NBA and IOCC.
