What it's supposed to do?

Lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, prevent cancer, treat infection, enhance immune function; has anti-oxidant effects.

How it's supposed to work?

Garlic is thought to have antibacterial, cardiovascular and anti-cancer benefits.

Does it work?

Some studies show that garlic may help in the short term with blood pressure and platelet function.  

Cooking destroys the active components.

Is it safe?

No toxic side effects, but can cause stomach upset.  Should not be used if pregnant or taking medication for HIV infection.  It can interfere with bleeding.
