What it's supposed to do?
Treat ulcers, cold symptoms,
chronic fatigue syndrome, stress, eczema, psoriasis, herpes, arthritis and
lupus.
How it is supposed to work:
Has anti-inflammatory, cough
suppressant, anti-viral activities.
Licorice may prevent the
release of certain hormones that cause inflammation in the lungs; prevent
cells form releasing viruses into the blood; enhance immune function.
There are two types of
licorice:
Standard Licorice
is used for respiratory infections, fatigue, and skin problems.
DGL-Licorice
is used for ulcers.
Does it work?
Studies show that DGL-Licorice can
help heal ulcers. Licorice can enhance the effects of the body's
cortisol level.
Is it safe?
Can cause high blood pressure,
salt and fluid retention, electrolyte imbalance, visual problems, problems
with erections in men.
Should not be used in women
with fibrocystic breast disease, breast or uterine cancer.
